The girls LOVE this game - I think they would play it all day if they could find someone to pull them. After Ama gave up Ella tried to get Avery to pull her but surprisingly she couldn't quite manage it :)
Then we got to work. We started out making the marshmallows. Then made these Spicy Molasses Cookies using the Pioneer Woman's recipe. They were SOOOOO good!!! I strongly recommend them. Although you have to buy cardamom which costs $9.00 for a jar and you only use 1/4 of a tsp. But worth it!
When we got the sugar out the girls became VERY interested in what we were doing.
Avery was particularly interested and had to sit in a lap and help.
Then we made Mounds Candies (my personal FAVORITE!) we didn't really use a recipe, but just kind of mixed everything together until it was the right consistency. It has sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, and coconut. Ella was in charge of the sweetened condensed milk. She did a great job.
Then we started on the sugar cookies. Ella was also extremely helpful in cutting out the cookies. We made a HUGE mess though. I am glad we waited until Avery was taking a nap to work on these, she would have gone crazy!!!
Ella went a little crazy.
Things got a little messy.
People got a little messy.
When the cookies were in the oven it was time to dip the Mounds candies in the chocolate. Ella was very involved in this part of the process because it involved chocolate.
Then Avery woke up from her nap and needed a little snuggle time. Luckily Ama was there to take care of that for her.
Once she had a snuggle she wanted COOKIES!!!
Poor sad baby, no cookies for you :)
I think Ella had too many cookies!
After a busy day of helping Ella needed a break. So she set up a little rest area in the kitchen so she could color while we cleaned up.
You will notice she didn't volunteer to help with the clean up. She learned that from her Mommy :) Actually Papa got home just in time to clean the kitchen after we dirtied every dish and pan in the house. Good timing!!!
